When you write in, it helps to include

Please do not paste private note content into an email. We do not need it, and we would rather not have it.

Common questions

The cleanup, to-dos, and smart search are not appearing

Those features run on Apple Intelligence, directly on your iPhone. They need an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence switched on in the iOS Settings app, and they need Apple's on-device model to have finished downloading, which can take a while after you first enable it.

You can check what Ormem sees under Settings โ†’ Intelligence inside the app. If your iPhone does not support Apple Intelligence, Ormem still works as a fast, private notes app with instant capture, the timeline, groups, widgets, and search by keyword, date, and place. The AI enrichments are the part that needs the newer chip, and Ormem hides them rather than showing you something broken.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no sign-up, no login, and no password. Install the app and start writing. There is nothing to lose access to, because there is no account to lock you out of.

Where are my notes stored, and are they backed up?

Your notes are stored in an encrypted database on your iPhone and nowhere else. This version has no backup and no sync. If you delete the app, lose your phone, or reset it, your notes are permanently gone, and we cannot recover them because we never had a copy.

An encrypted, opt-in backup is planned. Until it ships, treat Ormem the way you would treat a paper notebook, and keep anything you truly cannot lose somewhere else as well. You can see this reminder any time under Settings โ†’ Your data.

Ormem changed my words. How do I see what I actually wrote?

It did not change them. Ormem writes a tidied version alongside your note and shows that by default, but your original text is always kept. Tap Original on any note to see exactly what you wrote or said, untouched.

The on-device model is small and it does get things wrong. That is the whole reason your raw words are never overwritten. If a cleanup is bad, you can always fall back to the original, and any edit you make yourself is kept exactly as you typed it.

Dictation is not working

Ormem needs both Microphone and Speech Recognition permission. If you declined either one, iOS will not ask again, so you have to grant it manually: open the iOS Settings app, scroll to Ormem, and turn both on. Transcription happens on your device, so dictation also works in airplane mode.

How do I get a note out of Ormem?

Every note has a share action, so you can send its text to any other app. A to-do can also be exported to Apple Reminders, which hands only the title and due date to Apple's own app. There is no bulk export of your whole library yet. It is on the list, and if you need it, say so in an email, because that moves it up.

Location on notes

Optional and off until you allow it. When it is on, an approximate place is attached to a note so you can find things by where you were. It is stored only on your device, and you can remove it from any note.

How do I delete everything?

Delete the app. Because there is no account and no server, that removes every note, photo, and to-do permanently. There is no separate request to make and nothing for us to erase on our end.

Reporting a bug or asking for a feature

Email contact@ormem.app. Ormem is early and small, and feedback from people actually using it genuinely shapes what gets built next.

Privacy

Ormem collects nothing about you. No analytics SDKs, no tracking, no ads, no servers holding your notes. The full Privacy Policy spells out exactly what that means.
