API Privacy Policy
What the Ormem API stores, who else sees it, and how you or your users can get it back or have it erased.
Who's who
You, the customer, decide what to send to Ormem about your users. For that data you're in charge, and Ormem works for you: we store it and use it only to run the API for you. For your own account (your email, keys and usage), Ormem is in charge.
Ormem is run by Closepixels, a sole proprietorship of Suyog Eleyadath, Udumalpet, Tamil Nadu, India. Contact: contact@ormem.app.
Grievance officer: Suyog Eleyadath, contact@ormem.app. We reply within 30 days.
What we store
About your account
- Your email address, to sign you in and send you service emails.
- API keys, stored only in scrambled form. We can't see a key after it's shown to you once.
- Usage counts: how many messages and questions each month, to apply your plan's limits.
- A sign-in cookie on the dashboard, for 30 days or until you sign out. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
About your users
- The memories you send: the text, who said it, when, and the IDs you attach.
- What Ormem makes from them: search data, and dated notes and short summaries. These are needed to find and answer from memories.
- An activity log of what was done to each user's memories (added, searched, deleted), without the text itself.
Each user's memories are kept separately, and each customer sees only their own users. Ormem's admins manage accounts but can't read your users' memories through the service.
What we use it for
Only to run the API for you: storing memories, finding them, answering questions, applying limits, keeping the service secure, and contacting you about your account.
We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models.
Who else sees it
We use a few providers to run the service. Each gets only what it needs.
| Provider | What for | What it sees |
|---|---|---|
| Railway | Hosting the server and database | Everything stored, kept on their servers in the EU (Amsterdam, Netherlands) |
| OpenAI | Writing notes about new memories, and answering recall questions | The memory text involved. Under OpenAI's API terms it isn't used to train their models. |
| Resend | Sign-in and invite emails | Your email address |
| Sentry | Error reports, so we can fix problems | Where in our code something failed and how long requests took. No memory text, questions, names or addresses. Kept for 30 days. |
Search runs on our own servers; that part sends nothing to anyone. context calls don't send text to OpenAI either.
We'd share data with anyone else only if the law requires it, and we'd tell you unless we're not allowed to.
How long we keep it
- Memories: until you erase them. Erasing a memory or a user removes it, and everything made from it, straight away.
- Your account: when you delete it, your keys stop at once and everything is erased after 30 days. You can change your mind within those 30 days.
- Backups: copies of the stored data are kept for up to 27 days, then replaced. Something you erase can stay in a backup until that copy is replaced.
- Server logs: the time, address and outcome of requests, without memory text, kept for 30 days.
Getting data back, and erasing it
Everything here works through the API, so you can handle your users' requests yourself. See the docs.
- See or export a user's memories:
GET /v1/export. - Erase one memory, or a whole user:
DELETE /v1/memories/{id}orDELETE /v1/my/users/{name}. - Delete your account from the Account page.
If one of your users contacts us directly, we'll pass the request to you.
Your part
Because you decide what to send, you're responsible for telling your users that their messages are remembered, and for having the right to send them to Ormem. Please don't send passwords, card numbers or government ID numbers.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Keys are stored scrambled. Each customer's users are kept apart, and each user's memories are kept in a separate store. If a breach affects your data, we'll tell you without undue delay.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll email you before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
